Premium Petite Sirah Flights

This weekend’s premium flight features Petite Sirah from California and Australia.  All day Friday through Sunday  we’re offering 2-oz. pours of all three selections listed below for only $18.    And don’t forget that premium flights are eligible for our 25%-off Happy Hour Special every Friday 5-9pm!

2005 Lucas & Lewellen Petite Sirah, Santa Barbara, CA

Fermented with labor intensive hand punching and barrel aged for 17 months, this wine’s rich blackberry and anise character is complemented by light, toasty oak elements. This Petite Sirah has a big, mouth feel and ripe, smooth tannins. This wine finishes with a silky, warm palate impression.

2006 The Terraces Petite Sirah, Chiles Valley, CA

Deep dark color with aromas of lavender, blueberry and clove complementing a full and long, fruit-filled finish. Aged in French and American oak for 18 months.

2005 Charles Cimicky Petite Sirah, Barossa Valley, Australia

The 2005 Petite Syrah was aged for 19 months in 50% new oak, a mix of French and American. The wine is a thick opaque purple in color with aromas of pain grille, smoke, blueberry preserves, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied and loaded with flavor, this powerful effort is well-balanced and very long in the finish. It has enough structure to evolve for at least a decade and should drink well through 2035 for those young enough and patient enough to bury it in the cellar.

Italian Wine Tasting

Drop by Tuesday and taste a line-up of six nice little Italian wines, food-friendly or to ready drink on their own.  Between 5 and 8 pm, we’ll be pouring complimentary tastes of:

2008 Tutela Pinot Grigio, Veneto

Light straw color, with a fine, clean and intense aroma. Dry with a velvet smooth texture.

2008 Terredora Falanghina, Campania

The estate’s 2008 Falanghina is ample and generous in its layers of perfumed fruit. Notes of smoke, minerals and apricots linger on the long, intense finish. This impeccably balanced wine is a steal for the money. Drink now - 2012.

90 POINTS, ROBERT PARKER’S WINE ADVOCATE  |  88 POINTS, WINE SPECTATOR

2007 Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano, Abruzzo

Deep garnet-purple color. Ripe cherry and tobacco leaf aromas with a touch of game. Medium-full body with good concentration of fruit and a medium to high level of balancing acidity. Medium+ level of grainy tannins. Long finish. 90 POINTS, ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE

2008 Tenuta Curezza Nerosso, Puglia
"Black Red" (Nerosso) is a secret blend of the most ancient grapes of the Puglia Region.  Wisely hand picked and fermented in still vats, the wine ages in small oak barrels for 3 months to become soft and elegant.  Intense at the nose, full-bodied, massive in character.  Perfect with roasted meat, game and aged cheese.  Serve just below room temperature.  A blend of Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia, and Uva di Troia.

2006 Sanguineti Nessun Dorma Toscana, Tuscany
With vines carefully selected from all around Toscana, including Sangiovese from Capraia e Limite (Montalbano), Merlot from Gavorrano (Grosseto), and Syrah from Suvereto (Livorno), the Maestro has made a true "Super Tuscan". The Merlot is intensely floral and elegant, while the Sangiovese is fresh and bright. The Syrah adds depth and body, offering a bold expression of forest-floor truffle, ripe cherry and blackberry preserves. A harmonious, beautiful wine from one of Tuscany’s most beloved wine personalities.

2008 Mezzacorona Moscato, Trentino
Straw yellow color.  Intense nose of tropical fruit with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon.  A pleasing balance of subtle sweetness and tannins.
